New Delhi, Apr. 7 : The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, announced a six percent hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and pensioners on Tuesday.
With this hike, the DA increases from the previous 107 percent of basic pay to 113 percent.This dearness allowance announced will be having an effect from 01-01-2015. The state governments will also revise the DA accordingly.
The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both DA and DR would be of the order of Rs. 6762.24 crore per annum and Rs. 7889.34 crore in the Financial Year 2015-16 (i.e. for a period of 14 months from January 2015 to February 2016).
This will benefit 48 lakh government employees and 55 lakh pensioners.
